(can reach up to 260 cm). In flight its wings look like boards. They are batted with their primaries open and unfolded, their necks tucked up and their tails short. It has a cinnamon coloration in the plumage of the back, belly and anterior fringe of the wings, while the rest of the wing and tail feathers are dark brown. The head and the long neck are covered with a white down. It has a characteristic collar with long fawn feathers. The beak is brown in the centre; its base and tip are yellow. The feet are lead grey. The vulture is a natural glider, barely flapping its wings, quickly gaining height with only imperceptible tail movements. From the ground he starts to push himself up. It forms colonies on cliffs, cliffs and rock faces, regardless of whether these are in mountainous massifs or at low altitudes. Although it is a sedentary bird, younger individuals can travel long distances away from their parents. It is present in almost the entire Iberian Peninsula, except in Galicia, western Asturias and some areas of the Levante. The heat time begins in December and ends in April Before mating, the male courts his female in a grotesque and primal manner. They incubate on cliffs called \u201cvultures\u201d, dating back to time immemorial. Both sexes participate in the construction of the nest, made with sticks, straw and hair. Put at the end of January. Incubation of the single egg lasts about 52 days and is carried out by both parents, who take turns at intervals of 24 or 48 hours. The little one will leave the nest in July or August. It feeds on carrion, most of the time in open decomposition and others in incipient phase. In areas where vultures are common, they are seen gathering around a dead animal with unusual speed. All day they hang at enormous heights, where they are invisible to the human eye, swooping downwards with wings half tucked up and feathers crackling. When one descends, the others imitate him. Once it has arrived at the carrion, the vulture behaves in an inordinately timid manner.
