Il est originaire d\u2019Am\u00e9rique et est tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandu. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduit dans la p\u00e9ninsule ib\u00e9rique pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1910 et 1913. Il est actuellement distribu\u00e9 dans tous les bassins espagnols. En plus de son utilisation dans la p\u00eache sportive et comme proie des esp\u00e8ces pr\u00e9datrices, il est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 en aquariophilie comme esp\u00e8ce ornementale. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019un poisson carnivore \u2013 omnivore, il se nourrit surtout d\u2019invert\u00e9br\u00e9s et d\u2019alevins et s\u2019est sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les zones o\u00f9 il a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduit pour d\u00e9vorer les \u0153ufs et les larves d\u2019autres esp\u00e8ces. L\u2019esp\u00e9rance de vie des percasols est comprise entre 5 et 7 ans. Elle peut mesurer entre 20 et 35 cm et peser jusqu\u2019\u00e0 630 grammes.<\/span><\/p>\n
