Chapel of the Charity Hospital
Audio-guide
This simple chapel was the chapel of the former Charity Hospital (which later became a convent), to which it is attached. It dates back to the 16th century and is the oldest religious building in the town. In 1521 it was blessed by Bishop Cristóbal Fernández Barrionuevo and in 1593 it was rebuilt, taking on its current image. Hernán Ruiz III, the last of this famous saga of architects, was involved in its construction.
During Holy Week, several of the floats that process through the town leave from this church, creating a picturesque image with the figure of the castle in the background.
