Mosaic Workshop

Ángel Vargas’ mosaic workshop has been in operation since 2001. This self-taught craftsman was able to combine his passion for classical culture and archaeology with his skills as an artisan, and to materialise them in mosaics that are true marvels.

He has mastered ancient and modern techniques to create works inspired by the classical and Byzantine world and his own designs using some 10,000 pieces per m² of different materials such as marble, natural stone, river pebbles, glazes and vitreous pastes. It uses the micro-mosaic technique for the most precise details with tesserae of about 4 mm².

In his workshop we can learn first-hand how a mosaic is made, from its design to its finishing, including the preparation of the materials, as well as admire the various works in his exhibition. A real lesson in history and craftsmanship that leaves no one indifferent.
