La Breña II reservoir

Audio-guide

La Breña II is situated in the final stretch of the river Guadiato, near its confluence with the Guadalquivir and only 3 km from the town centre. The 823 Hm3 reservoir is the second largest in Andalusia. It has two distinct branches, one on the Guadiato itself, some 20 km long, and the other on the La Cabrilla stream, 5 km long.

Due to its location and characteristics, it is an ideal environment for water and nature sports and for fishing for species such as carp, pike and black bass, for which it has hosted international championships.

La Breña II Fluvial Beach

The reservoir has one of the two inland beaches authorised for bathing in the province, which in 2022 was awarded the Blue Flag distinction for the quality of its waters and the numerous additional services.

A 140m. long area next to the Breña II Nature Activities Centre, which is equipped with parasols, access pontoons and showers to alleviate the heat in the summer season, as well as being monitored by lifeguards to offer visitors a bathing experience full of guarantees and safety. A car park and a beach bar in the surrounding area complete what the beach has to offer.
