Annual plant, with stems on rare woody occasions at the base, reaching 30 – 42 centimeters, erect or ascending and villous. It is a hairy species, annual, 5-30 centimeters, of basal rosette of elliptical to obovate leaves. Upper leaves with starry hairs. Yellow flowers, 1-2 centimeters in diameter, with usually mottled petals of dark color at their base, in terminal inflorescences of long cabills; unequal sepals. It blooms between March and August. It inhabits roadsides, low scrub areas, between pine forests and holm oaks, up to 1600 meters of altitude. It is distributed in Mediterranean Europe, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Great Britain, Holland, Germany and Bulgaria.
