Freshwater fish about 75 cm long and weighing between 4 and 9 kgs whose meat is edible. Carp has been introduced to all continents except Antarctica, so it is found in all warm areas of Europe and Asia. It is a species typical of the lower reaches of the rivers, as well as of reservoirs and lakes. It feeds on all kinds of food, live or dead, such as worms, algae, worms, seeds, aquatic and terrestrial insects, fruits, cereals, fish, tadpoles and a large number of organic materials. They may be over 60 years old. The firm fishing season for this species goes from spring to autumn, the latter being perhaps the time when they eat more to spend the winter better.
