Percasol
It is native to America and is widespread. It was first introduced in the Iberian Peninsula in 1910 and 1913. It is currently distributed in all Spanish basins. In addition to its use in sport fishing and as prey for predatory species it is also used in aquariums as an ornamental species. It is a carnivorous fish – omnivore, feeds mainly on invertebrates and fingerlings and has specialized in those areas where it has been introduced to devour eggs and larvae of other species. The life expectancy of percasoles is between 5 and 7 years. It can measure between 20 and 35 cm and weigh up to 630 grs.
